Horseshoes

Work has a bad effect on both: crocheting and writing. I am coming back home so exhausted that all I can do is lay down and do nothing. I can only hope, that this will get better soon, as Ii feel like a waste of space. Without making something useful I am not useful! :P

Anyway, I had a really nice present this week: my horseshoes arrived! I want to make them into jewelry. I was trying to do some crochet bracelets with them this week but they came out quite bad.. I think I'd rather get some leather bands and use them. Unfortunately they are extremely dear in Germany, so I have to wait to get them in Poland. Fortunately it's only one week left before I go. Yoohooo!

Bracelets

I had a bracelet day a couple of days ago.

This one was at first just very simple and straight, but then I noticed at Pinterest (addiction FTW) some bows and I thought I could do it with this bracelet :)

Remember my stash of granny squares? Well, one ended up as a bracelet too :) I still need to work on a clip though, as I sewed it on on  a wrong side...

This one was suppose to be my attempt of Tunisian crochet. Instead of Tunisian it ended up as dc, as I was so angry with what I was getting... I really need to ask somebody to show me how this works.

This one was nice and easy too. And it came out so much better than I expected. It's made of simple chains connected in a back with two or three rows of dcs. And I love the neon green colour.

And last but not least: simple crochet bracelet... I think though that it is quite dull. I might do something with it later on.

Today I didn't feel like crochet in the morning, so I thought I will do something with horrible tin I keep my crochet flowers in.

It was hard to start with and I had to remove the first layer I made, as it was just looking awful (if you ever attempt this, remember to have a glue, which dries in transparent, not horrible yellow...

And I had to line it with a white card first, as the writings on the tin were visible.

But adding the cute flower at the end just made my day. My tins look so lovely now on the shelf :)

Horsies!

I actually don't like horses. But I am so happy with those! They came out great :)

Here is a little 'making of'' :

Stephanie an owl - mobile cover

I love crochet owls. I love jewelry with owls.

Ok, I love owls ;)

I was going to sew my horse mobile pouches today, but then this idea came up and I couldn't resist:

I love green. And owls ;) So I thought a green owl should be perfect. But once I finished it face t looked kinda to simple, so I added the blue trim on the top.

But it still looked kinda lonely.

And what is the best for a lonely owl? Of course - a pink flower!

And now a little something to get this blog going - first comment underneath this post will receive Stephanie as a gift from me :)

Brain slugs attack

I don't know how many of you is watching Futurama, but this is one of my favourite TV shows (although last seasons are way worse than previous ones. No wonder it's being cancelled. Again.). Anyway for last Halloween I was struggling to find a good costume for myself and my boyfriend.

I found this little fella on Louise's Loops. It was so awesome! So I made two and sew one on top of my boyfriend's hoodie, and second one ended up on hair band for me to wear.

Haha, he seems a bit confused on this picture, maybe he is disappointed, as he can find no brain at all ;)

Our costumes ended up awesome and everyone wanted to wear a brains slug. Friends actually asked me to make a couple for them. That was the time when I came up with an idea of gluing on an eye instead of crocheting one. They look even better this way.

If you fancy one for yourself as a Halloween costume or just as a toy, let me know! Making them is so much fun :)

Pink and blue

So I did continue making flowers today. Made 16 in total, 8 pink and 8 blue. I keep thinking what should I use them for. Any ideas?

I have some cute bags pinned on Pinterest made out of those flowers and this was one of the ideas, but now I am not quite sure.Well, there is plenty of wool in the world, I can start making something new and then figure out what to use them for, right? Right?

My stash of unfinished projects is growing again. I think that's every crocheter or knitter curse.

Nice walk with my boyfriend

A couple of days ago me and my boyfriend went for a walk. We were really happy as we made almost 20 km. It didn't happen since we moved to Scotland, so now, after moving to Germany we enjoy every minute outside.

It's beautiful out here.

Horse mobile pouch

For last couple of days I have been crocheting mobile pouches. There is a big tournament coming up at the stables I live nearby, so I decided to have a little stall in there and try to sell some of my crafty things. I have plenty of things on order, still waiting for them to arrive. There is a huge wool order to come too! This is so exciting :) I started buying wool in kilograms. It is certainly not helping my wallet ;) I can only hope that what I will sell at the tournament will keep me going for a while.

This is the first pouch I made. It is very simple: ch 14 and then just work you way up, until you have twice the size of your mobile, sew on applique and sew both sides together to make a pouch. Simple yet pretty.

So I have spend last couple of days making simple pouches. I cut out tens of horse heads too:

The only problem I have with them is that the colours are not very vivid. I would prefer something which stands out more, like neon. Unfortunately nearby shop doesn't stock anything like this and Ebay shops have pretty bad pictures there. If there is anybody there who reads this and know a manufacturer of nicely coloured felt, please let me know! And if possible send a sample or two ;)

Anyway, I was going to sew them up today, but then I thought that I actuallz donÄ…t like sewing. And that I don't want to do it today. So after two hours on Pinterest (yeah...) I decided to go for something with pretty flowers.

So far I have 8 flowers and still no idea what I am going to make out of them :D

But they are cute, aren't they?

And here they are were they should be:

Richard the Owl

Recently I have been looking around crochet and knitt blogs to find some bigger project for me to do. On one of them (no idea which one, sorry) I found a very creepy kitty-pillow. As I am not a big fan of cats I thought I should do it, but with a different animal. And that's how Richard the Owl was born.

Making the body was REALLY boring. I should do it with single crochet, but instead I used double and treble crochets in order to make it quicker. Yeah, I know. I wanted to kill some time and now I was making it quick. But it was REALLY boring :(

As you can see I started with a sunburst granny square and then continued around for 6 rows. After that I only crocheted the top part for 12 rows. Ears are 10 stitches wide.

Ears:
1 st row: 10 st
2nd row: 10 st
3rd row: 9 st
4th row: 8 st
And so on. I finished after 7 rows with 3 st, and then I put crocheting hook through all the top loops and made a knot, to make the ears pointy.

As I am a very lazy person, I made back all blue, couldn't be bothered making another sunburst granny square (will give you instructions how to make one soon). After I had front and back finished that was the time to make this little owl a face.

He looks a little bit scared, doesn't he?
Anyway, I found this little shop nearby, run by crazy artistic lady. I found there material for a beak :)

I am really bad with sewing. I secured the beak with pins before I sewed it on, but of course I had to be creative with sewing the eyes, so... :

This was the moment, when I realised that one eye is bigger than the other one... Ooops. Nevertheless I continued. This only means that Richard will be even more gorgeous (and creepy).

He is watching you!

And final picture:

Once I get material for the lining and stuffing, I will show you some more pictures :) For now, Richard is going to the box 'I'll finish it later' :)
